Today we had a new visitor!!!!

My dear daughter, Vava rushed out from my kitchen store room and banged at me while I was also entering the kitchen…dishum…she looked scared…she held me tightly and goes on “Puuchha ma puuchha..avidey. (Cat..Mummy..Cat..there) .and held my nightie so tightly and dragged me to the kitchen”…I didn’t see or hear any cat there. I said “Nothing is here”..”Vava ikki thoniyadu airikkum”..You were imagining…

She didn’t enter the kitchen not even to sneak her favourite murukku and mixture when she feels hungry.

In the middle of the night, I was feeling thirsty and my DH has finished the water jug kept on the table. I entered the kitchen and switched on the light to fill the jug. Suddenly I heard “meiyo meiyo”…oh..Vava was right?..There is a cat here inside my kitchen store. I switched on the store room lights too. I scanned and to my amazement I saw a big cat lying curled. I sensed that the mother cat is lying with some newly born kitten. Shoot!!!..I don’t want to disturb them. I quickly switched the lights of the kitchen store and the kitchen as well.

The next morning, me too, I was little scared to enter the kitchen store. Why am I scared?..Will the mother cat will attack me if I enter? Does it think that I ‘ve entered for harming its babies?

I was eagerly waiting for my cook to arrive. I informed her about this as soon as she arrived. She started with some interesting stories..you want to hear…”You will get lots of money in recent future”..ahha..not a bad idea…lotsa of money coming in..from where?..God alone knows…hahaha…then she continues…some more interesting facts about cats…”You know when it pies, it digs hole and pies and closes it with mud”..I was marveled with this fact..”is it so?”..oh yeah…hats off for their cleanliness attitude…she continues..there is infact a story behind this..Oh yeah..what is it?..”Wolf used to say that atleast by swallowing some of cats output, let me get some brains like Cat”…so the cats thinking that wolf will take it, it hids its…@#$@#$%$$....i laughed and laughed…She continues “Unmathanga”..”It is true, madam”..LOL…

Now the point is how can I kick this cat family from my kitchen store?...I asked for my cook’s help…She is not scared..one hell of a lady…..”Oru periya kutchi kudungha..verattidallaam”….”Give me a long stick….it can be kicked out”…I came back with a long stick cut down from neem tree in my front yard….In the mean time, Vava woke up and rushed to the kitchen to watch the hungama…I asked to wake monu as well (my dear son)…

My cook kicked out the mother cat..It ran to the living room and escaped through the window..On seeing this, Vava was ROFL…and monu joined also without understanding what is the commotion?...which made me laugh too.

Then there they are…2 beautiful kittens sleeping and curled in the corner of the last shelf..where I’ve kept some unused jute bags…I hardly touch those areas…One black and one sort of gray.

My cook, with the help of cardboard, took both the kittens out and kept out near the well completely covered so that no other living being will try to eat it or kill it. I was so sad to have them thrown out of the house.

Immediately lists of questions were shot at me by Vava. “Endhanu oru puucha karathirikkunu..oru puucha velluthirikkinu…”.(why one cat is black while the other cat is white in color?) .”Endu puucha aanu” (what is the gender of the cat?). I replied that just like each person has different color, every cat has different color…I told her I don’t know their gender…She continues….”Amma alley parasavikkiya..appo ammakki ariyo? (Mother only delivered the baby so did she know?)..i raised my eyebrows and said should be?..Amma Cat knows it…She continues ..”Appo endhanu peruvechirukkunnadu?..(Then what is the name?)..I replied ..”one is Monu and the other is Vava”..She got satisfied..It lightened her face…she gave a innocent and ignorant laugh…..and she repeated the whole conversation of mine and her to Dear husband…..

I thanked my cook and I saw the mother cat continuously shouting “miyo..miyo”..I talked to her saying your kids are fine and they are being kept behind the wall, inside the basket, safely..Go find it out..They are safe..Don’t worry”..I wonder whether it got the message…She continued her “miyo..miyo”..back to me…….

Enna koduma da sami!!!!

My children’s summer camp ended last week on thursday. It was for just 1 week..They enjoyed thoroughly with various activities like painting, coloring, making small bugs, butterflies, trees etc, puppet show and some movies… Damage has been done already!!! I could see the Michelangelo and Picasso’s drawings on the walls..all the place..front room..bedroom…”Amma, Dinosaurs…I drew it”..My son goes..What can I do?..Supressing my BP, I give a grin praising him “Waah!...grt8”….turning to my hubby with “I-am-sorry” look….”A big amount will be deducted from the advance when we vacate the house, that is it” My hubby’s helpless reaction....…

What to do next? To make them busy and preoccupied…I was running out of options....It’s Friday and FIL had planned to take them to SIL’s place...ok, couple of hours to kill time..They will enjoy the bus ride too from home to SIL’s place…I bid goodbye to them and left to office in the morning…Surprisingly, around 11 o’ clock, my mobile displayed a call from “Home”…I was wondering why from Home?..landline number…My daughter was crying over the phone on some issues with my son…Monu didn’t give me crayon for coloring….Pacified her sitting at office…what else can I do other than telling some supporting words to her….I interrupted her “Why you didn’t go to Aunties home?..”..She came back sadly..”Ummmhhh, no..Acchachan (FIL) told that they have to return by afternoon…So we didn’t go..”..Oh…OK!!!....Continued the conversation as a typical mother to enquire whether she had her breakfast …She is no mood to reply…She returned to the first sulking question…Monu is not giving me crayons…sobs!!!...I told her to give the phone to Monu…She called out loudly “Monnu..amma vezhikkunnu!!!” (amma is calling you)….words reverberating inside my head….”Monnu…amma-annu da..” (It’s amma)…”Paavam elley vava…crayons kodukku da… Monu”…” (Give crayons to Vava also)….”Avallu scissor tharinilla ammey ennikku…”…(She is not giving me scissors”…Here I go..for another round of negotiation or whatever…..It took me to another 10 minutes to solve his issues….Sigh!!! Back to some office work….

In the evening, back home, after dinner, in between their bed time stories, I asked once again, why you didn’t go to Aunties place?..She gave me the same answer…..”Koracchu samayathil thaaney thrizhu veranam innu paranjhu..adukaranam poyilliya”…(have to return within a short time..becoz of that we didn’t go)….

Next morning (Saturday), when I offered bed coffee for my dear hubby, he said that FIL is going to SIL’s place …I was little unhappy as I’ve cooked a lot for lunch thinking that FIL will be around..He pacified me saying “we can have it for dinner, dear”…I continued..”Yest, the kids were supposed to go to SIL’s place but because they have to return by lunch time, they didn’t go”..My hubby nodded his head and says “That is not the reason..”..

Me ..”Then what?”…
Hubby : “ Vava said to Daddy(FIL) that amma(me) did not want us to go to Aunties place”

Me : “What ?? I didn’t say that”..”Did she say like that to Daddy?”
Hubby :”Yeah, that is why daddy didn’t take them there yesterday”…
Me: “What???”
Hubby : “Ammam ma

Me : “Seriyana allu, she told me some other reason”..

Hubby raising his eyebrows…heaved a sigh….

Me, totally pissed off, “I didn’t tell her not to go “…
Hubby, back to his philosophical thoughts..” They reflect what you and I speak….”..blah blah….

I continued ..”Enna koduma da sami..”…
“Ok, even if she says like that…FIL has believed her and he also didn’t take them”…..”Look how much of weight age is given for a grandchild…not a daughter in law…Shey….”…..
I continued pollambifying….”Already I have a “BAD” certificate among in-laws..now this is like adding to the fire…”…”Ennakkey aappa….Seriyana allu….Kuuzhi thoondi pothachuduva pollarukku….pothachittu…ennaku theriyadu innu sollikkittu theriva pollairrukku…Adi paavi magha…”…(Pulling my legs!!?!…Great lady she is, she will dig hole and bury me in it..and she will walk around saying I don’t know)…..

My hubby, as usual, does not comment on these statements I make…laying ..turned down…in the bed eyes closed…..He makes sure that he is not trapped on some deposition I rattle…Typical marketing guy….playing safe..or saving his a**…

Totally dumbstruck, I narrated to my cook…She laughed to glory “Appadiya, indha kaalathu pasanga nambhavey mudiyaathu….” (Is it? These days kids, one cannot trust them….)
Still unsatisfied …..I called up my amma in Kerala, I lamented endlessly about my daughter’s double game. Amma was laughing….”Madhi madhi..kannu vekkelley di avalla…”..(Enough, enough, don’t cast evil’s eye on her)……

It happens …It happens ……..unbelievable……..

Calvin and Hobbes - Comic Strips

Have you met anybody in this world who does things over and over again consistently, daily to the Tee? Nope, I believe. Me too. Welcome to our world… Enlightened by some health conscious morning walkers, I go for walking getting up early in the morning waking up at the stroke of the alarm. It goes on for couple of weeks. And for some reasons, if the habit breaks. End to that practice. Then getting back to the swing is bit difficult unless you have that self motivation alive in you. My hubby says that it takes 21 days for a human beings to get a habit into our system.

I used to read a good number of books in my school days , thanks to my school library. But now I hardly read anything, novels or anything for that matter. Reason being hardly any time. I look for some easy reasons to get out from trouble as others perhaps do!!! A few years back, I used to get forwards from one of my team member turned friend who has subscribed to some comic sites. I chanced to read couple of Calvin & Hobbes comic strips and got in love it. I used to laugh reading it along with my hubby who also joins me enjoying it. Then somehow, life took a different stride and somehow lost touch with those C & H hilarious strips. Recently I had a chance to read it. It is awfully great. But you know what, when I read now, I get a different feel and meaning to it . After a mother of 2 kids, these strips makes me to associate with my son. He too personifies more of Calvin. With some animals, mostly dinosaurs , or A bunny rabbit in his hand. I believe that he does not talk to it. He sleeps hugging it and if he doesn’t finds it beside him when I wakes up, one can see slight cry with tears tripping down like waterfall without any sound. One wonders, why, what happened!!! The big reason would be that his toy is missing from his hand. oh ho!!! I wonder the children’s psychology and their thought process and what goes on their mind. But he watches his toy car’s wheels and bumpers continuously for 5-10 mintues. Might be doing some research. Or whatever why the wheels are only round shape not triangle. Wonder their inquisitiveness. My hubby says he has some problem. It’s hightime we show him to the doctor.

I try to post some of the Calvin & Hobbes comic strips I’ve saved in my desktop. Maybe change it daily if it is possible too….

The strips that are featured in this section are picked up from various sites. Hence all the courtesy and copyrights are dedicated to them only. I’m just using it in my blog since I happened to be an ardent fan of C&H. I’m extremely sorry if any of you think that I've stolen these precious pieces. Please note that the copyright of these comic strips remains with Universal Press Syndicate and the author Bill Watterson.
