Painful Memorable Night!!!

Hosur Downtown at night

Sree Chandrachoodeshwara Swamy temple - Shiva

We were living in Hosur for 4 years..that was when my dear hubby got a good job in Bangalore. We stayed in Hosur and my hubby travels to his office on the Hosur main Road…hardly 20 mintues drive from home ….What I liked most in Hosur is for its pleasant climate. Of course, not good for kids..They get frequent fever and non-stop colds and cough..with few lakes…our house was just on the banks of these lakes…Cold, Chillness cover the whole place all the time be it summer or winter……Then good temples..on the mountain..the “Sree Chandrachoodeshwara Swamy temple - Shiva”…and a “Perumal Temple – Lord Vishnu”…We visit these temples almost once in a month…Otherwise, it is a plain and simple town with few lanes comprising all variety of shops..lots of clinics…looks like the mini-Ranganathan Street at T-Nagar…the so called “Hosur Downtown”……. Nothing valuable to rant about, as far as my view point goes…..

By 5:30pm, the whole place becomes dark…and on a typical day, after dinner, my son and daughter were ready to sleep…They were busying playing with their pillows hitting each other…and suddenly my son hit his leg against the bedside….and started yelling catching hold of his leg..I hardly could not quiet get the reason why he is crying ..I was looking out for any cut or blood…Nothing of that sort..My hubby examined and he found out the reason..”A small chip of the woodpiece has pierced into the nail of his thumb finger in the toes (radial hexadactyly..in medical terms!!!) …it was very much between the nail and the skin in tact…”…He was crying profusely…Immediately we left to the hospital in the scooter..It was then 9:15pm….We checked couple of clinic..No doctors available…Hosur is famous for this…No duty doctors beyond 9:00pm…Finally we were lucky to see that a lady doctor is available till 10:00pm since it happened to be run by her…oh! Thank god… But that time, it started to drizzle…

We took our token and were asked to follow the queue….The doctor after attending a patient was called urgently by one of the in-patient…She is a Gyneac….OK…we waited for another 10-15 mintues..My son was weeping and we were consoling him..diverting his attention to other charts and displays on the reception area…Finally the doctor returned to her room..and we were next…What happened?..why is he crying?...After examining the feet, she called the nurse and instructed her to cut open the nail to remove this piece…oh no!!! I think Monu got the point..He must be 3 yrs then..He tightly held me….I made him to sit on the bed forcefully…Seeing the plight, the nurse asked me to leave him alone and closed the door behind me…….Outside, it started pouring like cats and dogs…thunder and lightening to spice it…..How will we go back home????

I was standing very close to the closed door, nervous, bitting my nails…..So much of crying sound reverberating the room……I was panicked….My hubby gave his typical “it-is-going-to-be-alright” nod to me…Suddenly the door opened and I dazed into it to see my son..He was sitting on the bed with his radial hexadactyly bandaged….The nurse called me silently near her and says “your son asked me one question…I don’t know what to answer”…My questionable eyes was towards her…”Ennaga?..” (what?)…”Enna pudunghu-neenga”…(what did you pluck?...literal transalation in English..)..But if you are a tamilian, you will notice the difference… It is a bad word, to be more specific..”what the f*** are you doing?”…I was standing there as if struck by a thunder …very hard to digest…from the mouth of a 3 yr old…he does not know the other or rather the double meaning of it…..Pardon him……

My hubby went out to catch hold of an auto….He was drenched ….finally a helpful auto driver agreed to drop us at 10:00 pm!?!….We were soaked to the skin by the time both my son and me got into the auto….My hubby went in his scooter totally soaked…..The auto reeled into the water flowing from one ditch to another across the road..yuck…My son and me held to each other…shivering as the wind was also equally blowing…..Freezing cold every where…..To our disillusionment, the auto stopped first near the flyover…. I restlessly asked him “Ennaga…”…He goes “I’ve shifted to gas cylinder today only....so some problem with some connection…”..Oh! gr8. …sitting in the middle of the rain…just hardly a rain cover on two sides….with my kid freezing…”Seekiram..edhavadu pannunga…”..(Please do something about it)…Then he tried starting and it lazily roared to the front….thanks…”Grr….”..it moved….and the next time on reaching the bridge half way across the lake…it stopped abruptly…The guy went once again checking….The freezing wind was propelling at its peak…we, fully drenched with chill wind all over our body…and the rain to add to the fire…my son and me hugged each other..my son could not tolerate the chillness…”amma…monu verrakkinnu…”..(shivering..)….

In the meantime, my hubby having reached home early waiting for more than 10 mintues traced back the road in his car thinking what happened to us which is taking so much time to reach home……I was not having mobile then….I was also peeping through the raincover sheet of auto to see whether my hubby is searching for us…But then, auto driver did his best to fix the repair and he successfully started his vehicle….I recognized my hubby in his car tracing us and waved back to return back home….Thanks to the wind god, rain god for graciously blessing us with a heavy bang of rainpour……

It turned out to be a bed time story, story time stories..for my children for many days......

We almost forgot the incident..it is almost 2 years over...Yesterday my son was trying to scratch open the gum that got stuck on the wooden table....The surface was not so smooth...My dear hubby gave him a warning reminding this episode that happened to his leg....Ah!!! I remember it , Accha..and he goes on to finish his story.....................
